Studio Update – Day 5

I’ve not posted any updates for a few days as I was struck down with a near fatal dose of man flu, but feeling much better now.

Anyway there was a really buzz in the studio on Friday as we had a lot of different trades in working on various aspects of the build.  Having decided to remove part of the upstairs floor to create additional headroom height in the studio the carpenters set about cutting back the floor.  Whilst this has created additional work as we will need to repair the ceiling, it has made the most dramatic impact on the studio space.

These pictures were taken on Friday morning.

Since then the electricians have finished the first fix electrics and we now have lights in the building.  All the stud work is complete and ready for the plasterers and we have now started working on the upstairs space which will become a dedicated Photoshop area and office space.

Studio update 3

Week two, day three and we are on schedule although that’s about to slip slightly as we undertake removing some of the first floor to increase the headroom height at the back of the studio.  This means we need to make good the floor and repair the ceiling, which will take an extra couple of days.  Whilst we hadn’t planned to do this initially, I think it will be worthwhile as the increased headroom height will give us greater flexibility.   The rest of the stud work went up today separating the reception area, viewing room and studio space.  The electricians are due to start tomorrow and I’m hoping we will get the lights working by the end of the day.

Here are a couple of quick pictures taken on my iPhone this morning.

New Studio Update – Week one

Things have been moving very fast at the new studio.  Last week we removed the wall at the back together with the raised floor area and black tiles.  Removing the black tiles has made the biggest difference so far and has really opened up the space.  We finished clearing out and preparing the unit on Friday in time for the carpenter and electricians to start this week.

The new walls started going up on Monday and the next key stage is to get the stud work completed so we can start on the electrics.  The front wall dividing the reception area from the studio was up tonight and I’ll take some more pictures in the morning.

New Studio – A sneak preview

I am very excited as after some deliberation we’ve  finally taken receipt of the keys to the new Studio. Before we started the refurbishment, I thought I would give you a sneak preview of the building.  The plan is to create a modern versatile well equipped studio downstairs together with a viewing room, reception area and changing facilities.  The upstarting will be office space and a dedicated Photoshop retouching area.  In order to support these new areas we are adding new walls to divide up the space and rewiring to support the studio lighting.  We are working to tight timescales as I would like to have the studio up and running in the New Year.   I’ll post another video later this week so you can see the progress we have made.
